kstars is the project of a planetarium for KDE. It works pretty well, but there is a small detail that can get annoying: the "Get new data is available for each user, so the catalogs and images (some of whom are 2GiB) are likely to be downloaded individually for each user. This, in a computer classroom for astronomy, for example, means a lot of wasted space, and plenty of bandwidth used to download things you already have. After small talk with people from KDE, I found the place and how to avoid this by centralizing data and using KDE kiosk mode to prevent users can download data.
