About a year and a half I wrote this article about registering a new protocol in Iceweasel (better known around as Firefox). But with the arrival of Firefox 3 things have changed and the method does not work. But the solution is similar: it is to manually add a new key to Boolean network.protocol-handler.expose.ed2k , and give as false value. The next time you click a link ed2k: / / will ask the application you want to use, and then look / usr/bin/ed2k in the directory tree.
And of course, the same goes for any other protocol you want.
